Totie completed a degree in Theatre Design in 1992, graduating from Nottingham Trent University. Whilst at University, she studied at the St. Petersburg Cinography Institute. Totie recently took part in Since 1843; an exhibition celebrating 170 years of art and design at Nottingham Trent.

Totie spent nine years assisting Anthony Ward, Richard Hudson and Tim Hatley on set designs for institutions including: Theatre de Complicite, RSC, National Theatre, Donmar Warehouse & Glyndebourne Opera. West End credits include: Oklahoma!, My Fair Lady and Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.

Design credits include: Word for WordPocketFlora’s War and The Ballad of Megan Morgan, (Theatr Clwyd) and Yoho (Leicester Haymarket). As Associate Designer: Victoria Wood’s Acorn Antiques -The Musical! (West End and UK tour).

For Cameron Mackintosh: Scenic Designer for Oliver! (UK tour) following productions in Gent and Antwerp, Julian Slade Tribute Show (Bristol Old Vic).

Totie has a long standing relationship with Miss Saigon, creating stage designs for the 2002 UK tour, which has since been produced worldwide in Korea, Australia, Japan, Brazil and The Netherlands.

She has also created two beautiful children with her husband Neil.
