Leo has been singing as far as he can remember, as a young boy he would perform solo numbers in his church choir and represent his school in singing contests to great success. Encouraged by his late mother, he went on to become one of the most awarded and respected music artists in the Philippines.
He was given the ‘Most Promising Entertainer of the Year’ Award early in his career and was awarded three ‘Best Performer Awards’ thereafter. Leo has won many awards in the Philippines, the most of honoured which was a ‘Lifetime Achievement Award in the Field of Performing Arts’.
Leo has recorded six music albums, three of which have turned gold! He starred in many of the most successful musical extravaganzas staged at the Manila Metropolitan Theatre, has performed in all the major concert venues in the Philippines and has travelled the world as a concert performer.
Leo's turning point in the world of musical theatre was when he portrayed the role of ‘Jean Valjean’ in Repertory Philippines’ production of the legendary musical. The critical acclaim from the audience and critics alike encouraged him to audition for the highly coveted role of ‘The Engineer’. Leo has played ‘The Engineer’ numerous times at the Theatre Royal, Drury Lane and in several Miss Saigon productions globally, the last of which was the Australian tour.
His other theatre credits include: ‘Freddie Trumper’, in Chess, The Musical, The King in The King and I, for which he won Best Actor in a Musical, and Tick/Mitzi in Priscilla, Queen of the Desert.
Putting his music career on hold, Leo is excited to be joining this Miss Saigon Touring Company and honoured and privileged to be invited by Cameron Mackintosh again to join Miss Saigon. Leo is thankful to his family, friends and countrymen for their support. Most of all, he is thankful and gives the biggest credit to the Divine Almighty Power for continued blessings abounding.
